<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide with a simple structure an optical module wherein the photocoupling efficiency of a light-emitting element and photodetector can be enhanced. SOLUTION: This optical module comprises substrates 3, 5 having an LD mount adjacent to the end of an optical fiber support 2 extending in one direction for mounting a laser diode LD 1 and a PD mount adjacent to the LD mount for mounting a photodiode PD 6 on main surfaces, an optical fiber 12 fixed along the optical fiber support, an LD 1 which is mounted on the LD mount and which faces one end face of the optical fiber 12 and has one end face coupled optically with the optical fiber 12, and PD 6 mounted on the PD mount with an optical incident plane facing the main surface. The substrates 3, 5 have recesses 7 provided on the main surface between the LD mount and PD mount for guiding a light emitted from LD 1 to the photodetecting plane of PD, and the PD 6 is mounted with its photodetecting plane covering a part of the recesses 7.</p> |
