A procedure is described for controlling a lifting working platform (110) with an outrigger (105) which can be moved by rotation around a vertical axis, by pivoting around a horizontal axis and by outwards/inwards travel along a surface (107) to be worked upon. The steps are: manual starting of a primary movement with a certain speed; simultaneous automatic starting of a secondary movement with another speed; and manual control of the second speed or the ratio of it to the first speed. The first speed is selected beforehand. It has a time-dependence and/or displacement dependence. The temporal variation of the speed especially corresponds to a preselected speed profile.
