摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and high-resolution image visual confirmation system forming a high-contrast stereoscopic image and being suitable to a head-mounted display by using a dual off-axis structure equipped with many illumination sources. SOLUTION: Independent beams 112 and 114 are propagated to intermediate image planes 122 and 124 along beam axes 113 and 115 through a display surface 108. The planes 122 and 124 are formed into an image again by oculars 136 and 138 independent of each other and respectively enlarged by the oculars and formed to give a virtual image independently visually confirmed by observer's eyes 146 and 148. Left side and right side optical paths 140 and 150 are crossed each other only in a display device 110. A faithful stereoscopic image is visually confirmed by alternately and successively switching right side and left side groups of LEDs 162 and 164 synchronizing with multiplexing right side and left side video signals alternately in terms of time domain.
