<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metal scavenger having low toxicity to organism and capable of safely treating waste water and solid waste by forming a metal- scavenging functional group with a substituent bonded to nitrogen atom in a skeleton having a structure obtained by the polycondensation of a reaction product of a nitrogen-containing compound having substitutable active hydrogen atom bonded to nitrogen atom with a vinyl ester. SOLUTION: A metal-scavenging functional group (e.g. dithio-acid group and alkylene phosphate group) is formed with a substituent bonded to a nitrogen atom in a skeleton having a structure obtained by the polycondensation of a material produced by reacting a nitrogen-containing compound having preferably >=3 substitutable active hydrogen atoms bonded to nitrogen atom (e.g. aminoethylethanolamine) with a vinyl ester (e.g. methyl acrylate). For example, the dithio-acid group can be introduced by substituting an active hydrogen atom bonded to a nitrogen atom of a polycondensation product by reacting the above polycondensation product with carbon disulfide.</p> |
