The method further includes selecting one of the one or more operation modes for the radio node and signaling a selected operation mode to the radio node. |

1. A method for radio access virtualization in a network, the method comprising:
defining, by a network controller, one or more operation modes for a first radio node in the network, wherein the one or more operation modes includes a hyper transceiver mode, wherein the hyper transceiver mode configures a virtual transmission point comprising the first radio node and at least one other radio node jointly performing both transmit and receive communications, to cooperatively communicate with a virtual reception point comprising a target radio node and at least one neighboring radio node jointly performing both transmit and receive communications, in accordance with neighborhood relations of the target radio node; selecting, by the network controller, one of the one or more operation modes for the first radio node; and signaling, by the network controller, a selected operation mode to the first radio node. |
