METHOD FOR TRIMMING THERMAL PRINT HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a print quality by providing a method for trimming whereby a resistance value of a heating resistor can be uniformed to details. SOLUTION: A heating resistor 5 is formed in a thick film on common electrodes 3a and discrete electrodes 4 on a substrate 2. A resistance value of the heating resistor is lowered to a target value according to the method for trimming a thermal print head. A driving IC is loaded on the substrate 2. The heating resistor 5 is let to generate heat through the operation of the driving IC. A surface temperature of the heating resistor 5 at this time is measured. The trimming process afterwards is based on the measurement result. A laser used is preferably a YAG laser having an irradiation width made variable.
