PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having decreased reflection from its display screen and excellent visibility of the display screen. SOLUTION: A reflection preventing polarizing plate 24 comprises a reflection preventing layer 26 formed by laminating five layers of ZrO2 and SiO2 layers on a surface of a polarizing plate 25a by a sputtering method. In the case the reflection preventing layer thus formed by laminating the five layers of ZrO2 and SiO2 layers is utilized, reflectivity of incident light from a polarizing plate 5 over an entire range of visible light is decreased from 4% to 0.5%. |
