PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a hydraulic shovel capable of promoting a control characteristic of the hydraulic shovel by reducing shock or a sense of incompatibility to the utmost when operation is changed over. SOLUTION: This controller is equipped with controlled variable sensors 1 for detecting controlled variable of control levers. feature quantity extraction sections 2 performing operations of a feature quantity based on the controlled variable, a membership function memory section 3 for storing a plurality of membership functions, a compatibility operating section 4 calculating compatibility for operations of feature quantities by applying the calculated feature quantities to the membership functions, a control characteristic set point memory section 5 for storing a control characteristic set point set in advance and a control characteristic operation section 6 outputting a control characteristic for control of a hydraulic shovel based on the compatibility calculated in correspondence with a plurality of kinds of operations and the memorized control characteristic set point. By the constitution, a control characteristic of the hydraulic shovel can be promoted.
