A radio receiver receives at RF receiver subsystem (1) a radio frequency (RF) input signal. That signal is captured and down converted into a digital complex baseband representation of the signal by the RF receiver subsystem (1). This received complex baseband signal is then passed through a series of stages in the receiver, including a frequency correction field detection stage (4), a square timing recovery stage (5), a digital frequency correction stage (6) and a slot synchronisation stage (7), which are used to estimate accurately the frequency and timebase offsets from the received signal, to adjust the received signal for these offsets internally, and to tune the receiver's local internal frequency and timebase references (14, 16) for subsequent transmission or reception.
|
