1457725 Incendiary compositions AE & CI Ltd 14 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 6394/75 Heading C1D [Also in Division F3] A plastic incendiary composition is made by mixing 3-11À67% by weight of polyvinyl chloride, a liquid plasticizer for the polyvinyl chloride, a particulate metal or metal compound, and a particulate oxidizing salt, the particulate material constituting 65-85% by weight of the total composition, and the oxidizing salt constituting 15-35% by weight of the particulate material. The plasticizer may be dibutyl phthalate, di-isooctyl phthalate, or a combination of dinitrotoluene and mononitrotoluene, the metal or metal compound ferromanganese, ferrosilicon, calcium silicide, or zinc, and the oxidizing salt potassium perchlorate. A mixture of the components may be extruded round a cotton or synthetic yarn or a metal wire to form a rod which is heated to cure the mixture. The rod may be used as the core of a timing fuse or in short lengths as igniter cord connectors. |
