PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize back light with good efficiency to improve the use efficiency of light, to display a brighter and easily visible image and to decrease the power consumed for the back light. SOLUTION: This filter 3 is disposed between a back light 1 which emits diffused white light 1a, and a color liquid crystal panel 2 having three liquid crystal cells 2B, 2R, 2G of three color components in one pixel where the diffused white light 1a from the back light 1 enters. The filter consists of a reflective holographic diffusion plates 3a, 3b having selectivity for diffracted wavelength but no or little selectivity for angles. The diffused white light 1a from the back light 1 is reflected and diffracted by the filter so that only a specified complimentary color component of three primary colors is transmitted to enter the color liquid crystal panel 2. |
