The invention relates to a device for treating, for example, sand-blasting or varnishing the walls of bodies such as hulls, tanks, large containers, buildings, bridges or the like by way of a travelling treatment station (15). At least one traction-absorbing, flexible element (6, 7) for guiding the treatment station (15) during travel is provided. The device further contains clamping means with which the at least one flexible, traction-absorbing element (6, 7) can be clamped along a wall (17) to be treated in such a manner that the treatment station is pulled towards the wall (17) to be treated.
