PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily execute regenerative braking by detecting the drop of the DC bus voltage of an inverter when power is cut, stopping acceleration control, adding additional regeneration controlled variable and forcedly starting regenerative braking. SOLUTION: An inverter receives AC power and controls the operation of a motor. A control system gives an acceleration speed command. When the AC power is stopped during an acceleration operation, a DC bus voltage of the inverter starts to drop. When the drop of DC bus voltage is detected, acceleration is stopped, and the DC bus voltage is reduced at time A. At time B, a torque forcing switch is closed for a prescribed time, and torque forcing quantity which is set by considering the load, inertia and motor capacity is added to a torque command system from a torque forcing source. Regenerative torque is forcedly generated, DC bus voltage is restored and maintained, and linear deceleration is brought about. Thus, a system can be moved speedily and stably to regenerative braking.
