PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material exhibiting periodicity of micrometer scale, e.g. a photon bandgap material. SOLUTION: This process comprises a step for providing a template containing colloidal crystals and a step for introducing a molten material into voids in crystal lattices. In usual, the introduction step is carried out by exposing the crystals and the molten material to a pressurized environment so that the molten material is forcedly introduced into the voids in the crystals. Then, the material is cooled down and the colloidal crystalline grains are removed by heat etching or by decomposing. The resulting material forms a homogeneous structure of high-density. The void accumulation is filled with continuous liquid phase conventionally, and this favorable structure prevents the formation of vacancies and inhomogeneity in the conventional final structure. |
