PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair offering simple construction and operation permitting a change between a condition available in seated attitude and a condition available in standing attitude and construction also permitting a smooth increase in accessibility to the chair. SOLUTION: A chair consists of a seat 2 and a rest 3 located above the seat 2 and mounted so as to be held at a given inclination a to either front or rear side. Whenever either front or rear edge of the seat 2 is a usage edge, the rest 3 is inclined to the counter usage edge side for use as a waist pad during seating on the seat 2 or inclined to the usage edge side for use as a direct seat.
