PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen sensor with a heater and a method for manufacturing the same in which stress hardly remains between the heater and an oxygen concentration cell element at the time of manufacturing and which is capable of preventing the occurrence of cambers, exfoliation, and cracks, etc., in a zirconia solid electrolyte layer. SOLUTION: In an oxygen sensor, a heater 22 is constituted of an insulating layer 24 made of porous alumina to cover a resistance heating pattern 23 and heater main body layers 28 and 29 constituted of a zirconia-based solid electrolyte to sandwich the insulating layer 24 from both sides, and a section of a combined layer 19 made of a zirconia-based electrolyte to surround the insulating layer 24 is discontinuous to form an exposed part 40 of the insulating layer 24 in a side surface of the heater 22. As gases which occur when organic additives, impurities, etc., contained in the insulating layer part are evaporated or decomposed are effectively discharged from the exposed part 40 at the time of burning and are hardly accumulated inside an obtained element 2, defectives such as blisters, cracks hardly occur in the element 2. |
