PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel photocatalyst which has excellent stability and durability and is excitable by long-wavelength visible rays. SOLUTION: This photocatalyst comprises (A) a layered composite metal oxide containing an alkali metal, titanium, and niobium as metals and (B) cadmium sulfide included between the layers of the metal oxide.
