PURPOSE: A cellular radio communications system with frequency hopping on the control channel is provided to enhance the effciency and alleviate the management load. CONSTITUTION: The method of transmitting signals in a cellular radio communication system, comprises: broadcasting at least one signal comprising control channel information on a carrier to subscribers within the cellular radio communications system; dividing the carrier into TDMA frames, each TDMA frame having a frame number N; storing or generating at least two sets S0-S2 of pre-determined frequencies fi in dependence on the frame number N; selecting one of the sets S0-S2 of pre-determined frequencies fi in dependence on the frame number N of the TDMA frame being broadcast at any particular time; broadcasting the carrier at the time on a frequency taken from the selected one of the sets S0-S2.
