PURPOSE: An apparatus for stopping repetitive decoding in a turbo decoder and a turbo decoder including the same are provided to stop repetitive decoding according to a decision result of a predetermined decision function for a soft decision output. CONSTITUTION: A soft decision value output portion(100) outputs a soft decision value by decoding repetitively turbo coded data and stops repetitive decoding according to a repetitive stop signal. A minimum absolute value discriminator(111) outputs an absolute value of a current soft decision value as a minimum absolute value when the absolute value of the current soft decision value is less than an absolute value of a previous soft decision value. A comparator(113) compares the minimum absolute value with a reference value and outputs the first level signal when the minimum absolute value is less than the reference value. A repetitive decoding stop signal output portion(114) outputs a repetitive decoding stop signal after the soft decision value output portion performs a repetitive decoding operation.
