The appts. has an additional magazine (22) containing separating sheets. The magazine supplies the separating sheets (24) one at a time. It is controlled to lay a separating sheet on top of a pile of printed sheets (14) output from the printer (10). The magazine is located separately on the printer, above the exit rollers (12). Hence the dimensions of the separating sheet is selected independent of the sheet transport and format. The separating sheet is bigger in one dimension that the output sheets to protrude over the edge of the pile of sheets. The piles of sheets belonging together are lifted out of the printer with a separating sheet between each pile. |
