PURPOSE: A system and method for the chatting room service using a digital map through network are provided for a user to easily find and participate in the desired chatting room with reality. CONSTITUTION: The user accesses a web server(20b) by using a PC(10) and the web server displays the initial screen of a homepage to the user PC(10). The user takes the log-in procedures through an authentication server(20c) by entering ID and password. When receiving a local selection signal from the user PC(10), the web server transfers the local selection signal to a map management server(20d), which draws out the digital map representing the geographic information of the selected area from a geographic information DB(30b), and which provides the digital map to the user PC(10). The web server receives a position selection signal from the PC(10) of a chatting room host and provides the initial screen of the chatting room to the PC. Also, the web server receives the data about the chatting room, like the place and name of the chatting room, the number of participants, from the host PC and transfers to a chatting room management server(20e). The chatting room management server opens a new chatting room based on the data about the chatting room. A map management server(20d) displays an icon representing the data about the new chatting room. At the same time, the chatting room management server stores the data about the chatting room to a chatting room management DB(30c) and the map management server stores the digital map containing the icon to a map DB(30b). When receiving an icon selection signal from a PC of a chatting room participant, the web server transfers the icon selection signal to the map management server. The chatting room management server transfers the chatting room screen responding to the selected icon to the participant PC and lets the participant enter the chatting room.
