<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain an automatic transmission with a bypass clutch from becoming long and large in the axial dimension. SOLUTION: An input shaft 11 is provided with a plurality of driving gears 21-25, and an output shaft 12 is provided with a plurality of driven gears 31-35 meshed with the driving gears 21-25 to form a speed change gear train. The input shaft 11 and output shaft 12 are built in a transmission case 13. In the clutch housing 15, provided is a start clutch 19 for changing the input shaft 11 and a crankshaft 17 of an engine 16 into an engaged state and a released state is accommodated in a clutch housing 15. A bypass clutch 51 for transmitting the torque of the input shaft 11 to the output shaft 12 while controlling connection and cut-off synchronously with the changeover operation of the speed change gear train at the time of a shift. The bypass clutch 51 is axially overlapped with the start clutch 19 and radially shifted from the start clutch 19.</p> |
