PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper nozzle punching device capable of easily setting the upper nozzle of the punching device and capable of requiring less force at the time of punching and to provide a method for hot-adjusting a tundish using the punching device. SOLUTION: The upper nozzle punching device and a method for hot- adjusting the tundish using the punching device are characterized in that the device punches the upper nozzle provided on the bottom portion of a molten metal vessel from inside to outside, and comprises a punching rod having a tip end shape which is buried in an insertion aperture through which the molten metal of the upper nozzle passes, a breaker which is connected to the punching rod and imparts an impulse force to the rod, a lift to lift and lower the rod, and a shifter to horizontally transfer the punching rod.
