<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image coding apparatus and program that can minimize degradation in an image attended with bit round-down in the compression coding in compliance with the coding standards JPEG 2000. <P>SOLUTION: A bit revision means is provided to a pre-stage of a coefficient bit modeling means. The bit revision means judges whether or not a bit plane in a wavelet coefficient processed by the coefficient bit modeling means is a bit plane of a coding object at the lowest rank coded not subjected to the round-down by a bit round down/arithmetic coding means, a bit plane lower by one rank than the bit plane of the coding object in the lowest rank is referenced when the bit plane is judged to be the coding object in the lowest rank and the bit of the bit plane of the coding object in the lowest rank is changed into 1 when the bit of the bit plane of the coding object in the lowest rank is 0 and the bit of the bit plane lower by one rank than the bit plane of the coding object in the lowest rank is 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
