PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device configured to move a separation plate cleaning member disposed in a separation plate forward and backward in a longitudinal direction of the separation plate, to remove a foreign matter such as toner deposited on the separation plate, paper dust or carrier, thereby preventing an abnormal image with stain or vertical stripes, and to provide an image forming device.SOLUTION: A fixing device has a function of conveying a recording medium P with unfixed toner carried thereon to a nip part n formed by a rotating fixing member 81 with heating mean 831 and a rotating pressure member 83 pressed by the fixing member, to fix a toner image on the recording medium. The fixing device includes: a separation plate 41 for separating the recording medium to be conveyed from the nip part from the fixing member; a separation plate cleaning member 43 disposed at one longitudinal end of the separation plate 41; a separation plate cleaning member operation mechanism 44 for moving the separation plate cleaning member forward and backward in a longitudinal direction of the separation plate; and control means 90 for controlling motion of the separation plate cleaning member at a predetermined timing via the separation plate cleaning member operation mechanism. |
