PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impression cylinder cleaning unit capable of performing a cleaning operation without retreating a cleaning cloth from a gripping means on the impression cylinder in a printer. SOLUTION: A part of a claw member 22 provided on the impression cylinder 5 has a part projecting onto the impression cylinder surface, wherein a gentle slope surface is formed. Since a pressing roller 32 is employed as a pressing means to press the cleaning cloth CL, the impression cylinder surface and the pressing roller 32 surface are come in contact with each other at a shallow angleα. Keeping this state and rotating the impression cylinder 5 at a rotational speed of 10 rpm or less allows the cleaning cloth to smoothly pass on the claw member 22, eliminating the need to retreat the pressing roller 32 from the claw member 22.
