<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure quick response rate of current supplied to a laser diode. <P>SOLUTION: The power source controller is provided with a switching element TR1 connected between the anode and cathode of a laser diode LD1 connected in series, a driver circuit DR1 to drive the laser diode LD1 and a cooling body 60 formed by assembling a metal plate. The laser diode LD1, switching element TR1 and driver circuit DR1 are mounted on the cooling body 60. Therefore, a component which will easily generate heat can be compactly assembled in direct to a printed circuit board 53 and temperature condition of such electronic component can be stabilized.
