PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for accurately forecasting the progressing direction and moving speed of a physical object itself by detecting distance to the object and its relative velocity finely with high accuracy when the object is detected by a sensor used for detecting collision.

SOLUTION: This physical object detecting device for a vehicle has a course forecasting part for forecasting a course of the detected object from an object movement forecasting part which recognizes positional information on a plurality of points of the detected object based on electromagnetic waves from a plurality of points on the object detected by an object detecting part and computes velocity vectors from change of the positional information with time and velocity information on the plurality of points.
