<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method whereby a pregnane derivative useful as a synthesis intermediate for squalamine is efficiently manufactured from an easily obtainable raw material by a short process. <P>SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a 21-hydroxypregnane derivative represented by formula (III) (wherein R<SP>4</SP>is a protective group for a hydroxyl group) comprises protecting a hydroxyl group present at the 7-position of a compound represented by formula (I) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, and R<SP>3</SP>are each independently an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, or aralkyl group) and then deprotecting the silyl group present at the 21 position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
