<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hardenable fluoroelastomer composition having improved dynamic characteristics, with the improvements described by improved sealability, that is, a combination of improvements in compression set on the O-ring, in fracture point stress, and in fracture point elongation. <P>SOLUTION: The hardenable fluoroelastomer composition is an ion root hardenable vinylidene fluoride (VDF)-based fluoroelastomer composition comprising (a) 100 pts.wt. of a VDF-based fluoroelastomer practically lacking polar end groups; (b) 0.05-5 phr of a reaction accelerating agent; (c) 0.5-15 phr of a hardening agent; (d) 1-40 phr of one or more inorganic acid acceptors, preferably bivalent metal oxides; (e) 0-2.5 phr, preferably 0-1.5 phr, of one or more basic compounds, preferably hydroxides of bivalent metals or of weak acid metal salts; and (f) 0-80 phr of a reinforcing filler. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
