PURPOSE:To improve the suitability of a strip to passing through a pickling tank by setting salt floaters in a salt bath, an air wiper at the outlet side of the bath, a course changing means at the inlet side of a water quencher and a suction bridle at the outlet side of the quencher. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus for pretreating a stainless steel strip S before pickling, a water quencher 80 is installed at the inlet side of a pickling tank 90 and a salt bath 10 at the inlet side of the quencher 80. Salt floaters 11 spouting molten salt and guiding the strip S in a noncontact state are set in molten salt L in the bath 10. An air wiper 20 blowing molten salt away from the strip S is set at the outlet side of the bath 10. A floater 31 as a course changing means is set at the inlet side of the quencher 80 and a suction bridle 40 applying tension to the strip S at the outlet side of the quencher 80. The suitability of the strip to passing through the pickling tank 90 can be improved. |
