PURPOSE: To provide an ink cartridge capable of facilitating ink filling work while surely preventing intrusion of air and impurities into an ink reservoir. CONSTITUTION: The ink cartridge has a cartridge housing 4b provided with an ink reservoir for containing ink. The cartridge housing 4b is provided with a first opening 7a and a second opening 7b opening to the outside and communicating with the ink reservoir through communication paths 5a and 5b, respectively. A first plug member 6a and a second plug member 6b are fitted in the openings 7a and 7b, respectively. The plug members 6a and 6b can penetrate a hollow needle and have resiliency capable of sealing by itself after the hollow needle is drawn out. A protrusion 6z, i.e. a valve part capable of sealing the communication path 5b, is provided at a part of the second plug member 6b. The second plug member 6b is fitted in the second opening 7b movably between positions where the communication path is opened and sealed by means of the protrusion 6z.
