PURPOSE: A clutch device of an automatic transmission is provided to increase torque-transmitting capacity by installing additional clutch plate and a clutch disc to a space between a clutch hub and a retainer without enlarging the size of a case. CONSTITUTION: A clutch device of an automatic transmission having a plurality of multi-disc clutches mutually sharing a single clutch hub(16') is composed of a plurality of auxiliary clutch discs(18") combined at the clutch hub in a slip-joint method; a plurality of auxiliary clutch plates(14") combined to the retainer in the slip-joint method to insert between auxiliary clutch discs by turns; and a pressure transmitting member(26) combined to the retainer in the slip-joint method to apply pressure to the auxiliary clutch plate and the auxiliary clutch disc. A stepped portion(26a) is formed at the pressure transmitting member to avoid interference with a bent unit(16a) of the clutch hub.
