OAM PACKET DATA TRANSMISSION METHOD AND ETHERNET PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK INCLUDING CONTROL MULTIPLEXER THEREFOR

PURPOSE: An OAM(Operation, Administration, and Maintenance) packet data transmission method is provided to enable a control multiplexer for multiplexing an MAC client data frame and OAM PDUs to give a higher priority to the OAM PDUs than the MAC client data frame, thereby reducing transmission delay caused by a length influence of a transmission standby queue of MAC client data. CONSTITUTION: A control multiplexer checks whether OAM PDUs are generated in an OAM controller(402). If so, the control multiplexer checks a transmission standby queue of an MAC client data frame(404). The control multiplexer checks whether MAC client data to be transmitted to an MAC control sublayer exists in the transmission standby queue(406). If so, the control multiplexer gives a higher transmission priority to the OAM PDUs than the MAC client data frame(408). If the OAM PDUs and the MAC client data frame start being transmitted(412), the control multiplexer multiplexes the OAM PDUs and the MAC client data frame according to given priorities, and transmits the multiplexed OAM PDUs and the MAC client data frame to the control sublayer(414).
