<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive recording material using an indolyl phthalide compound affording an image of blue to cyan color and having good chromaticness. <P>SOLUTION: The heat-sensitive recording material is provided with a heat-sensitive recording layer containing an electron donative dye precursor and an electron accepting compound on a support. At least one kind of the electron donative dye precursor is characterized as follows. The indolyl phthalide compound is represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>denote each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, etc., with the proviso that R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>do not denote simultaneously a hydrogen atom; R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>may mutually be bound to form a cyclic amino structure; R<SP>3</SP>denotes an alkyl group, etc.; R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>denote each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>, X<SP>3</SP>and X<SP>4</SP>denote each independently an N or a CH; and Y denotes an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
