<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide registration deviation prevention technology by simple structure and without requiring time for processing. <P>SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus constituted by providing a registration deviation quantity detection means which detects registration deviation quantity of an image in a vertical scanning direction and a registration deviation compensation means which compensates a position of the image as an image formation target in the vertical scanning direction based on the registration deviation quantity detected by the registration deviation quantity detection means, this image forming apparatus is provided with a representative registration deviation quantity calculation means which calculates one representative registration deviation compensation quantity by every area divided into a plurality of areas in a horizontal scanning direction of the image based on the registration deviation quantity detected by the registration deviation quantity detection means and the registration deviation compensation means compensates the position of the image as the image formation target in the vertical scanning direction by every area based on the representative registration deviation compensation quantity calculated by the representative registration deviation quantity calculation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
