<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming material excellent in dissoluble discrimination and useful in a heat mode dealing positive planograph printing original plate having small developability change. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming material has an image forming layer containing (A) a novolac phenol resin containing phenol as at least a structural unit, (B) an optical heat conversion agent, and (C) ammonium salt expressed in general formula (1) on a supporter. In the general formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>expresses an organic group having at least one long chain alkyl group in which the number of carbons is 6 or more or at least one long chain in which the number of carbons is 6 or more. R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>respectively independently express an organic group containing one or more carbon atoms, are mutually coupled, and may form a ring structure.
