PURPOSE: A method for processing power in pressing a power key of a folder type mobile terminal is provided to prevent power consumption due to power key that is abnormally pressed. CONSTITUTION: When a power key is pressed, a controller checks whether a folder of a mobile phone is closed. When the power key pressed, if the folder is in a closed state and power is in an OFF state, the power becomes ON. After mobile phone is completely booted, the controller checks a state of the folder. If the folder is in a closed state even though the power is ON, power is changed to a sleep mode, If the folder is open in the state that power is ON, the power-on state is maintained. After power is changed to the sleep mode, the state of the folder of the mobile phone is checked again. After power is changed to the sleep mode, if the folder is open, power becomes ON.
