<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter capable of easily increasing the availability of light frequency, and to provide an optical communication system. <P>SOLUTION: A high pass cut-off differential NRZI signal pair is impressed respectively to two branching paths of a push-pull type intensity modulator 12, the amplitude level of the differential NRZI signal pair and the DC bias level of the light intensity modulator 12 are appropriately set, and thus inverted RZ optical signals for which a phase is inverted for each adjacent mark are generated. Further, the bandpass of the inverted RZ optical signals is limited by an optical filter 13 and the spectrum width is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
