An apparatus and a method for processing an image, and a recording medium are provided to correct shading without enlarging scale of a circuit or a program and without lowering correcting accuracy. A pseudo distance calculating unit(42) calculates a distance from the center of a picture to each pixel by multiplying a distance gain. Look-up tables(24,25) acquire correcting values for correcting shading of an image based on the calculated distance. A correcting unit(29) corrects a signal of each pixel based on the acquired correcting values. A blend ratio setting unit(26) sets a mixing ratio of the correcting values. A gain blend processing unit(27) mixes the correcting values based on the mixing ratio.
