<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash ROM controller capable of increasing a processing speed and lengthening the product life of a flash ROM by managing the number of rewrite times to an identical logical address by use of a generation number. <P>SOLUTION: A logical-to-physical conversion table T1 and a physical-to-logical conversion table T2 are provided between a host and the flash ROM. In the logical-to-physical conversion table T1, a physical cluster number (a physical address) corresponding to an identical logical cluster address (an identical logical address) is stored. The above table content is updated each time the cluster data is rewritten. Also, the number of update times of the physical cluster number is stored as generation number. When the generation number comes to a maximum value, an invalidating processing for entirely invalidating the corresponding physical cluster numbers is performed, referring to the physical-to-logical conversion table T2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
