<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find an improved abrasion resistance or erosion resistance of a catalyst supporting material and to find a means for obtaining a high catalytic activity of a catalyst produced from this material. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to the catalyst supporting material having the improved erosion resistance and to the catalyst producing thereof. The catalyst supporting material has TiO<SB>2</SB>of at least 20 wt% in a main state of anatase-type. Further, this catalyst supporting material has a diatomaceous earth of at least 2 wt% and 80 wt% or below. In an embodiment, the catalyst produced from the above catalyst supporting material has an oxide or a sulfate of a base metal selected from the group consisting of V, W, Mn, Nb, Mo, Ni, Fe and Cu. Further, in another embodiment, the catalyst produced from the above catalyst supporting material has Pt or Pd. The above catalyst is used for treating a flue gas. More concretely, the catalyst supporting material having the improved erosion resistance, produced by this invention, is used for treating the flue gas having a large quantity of granular materials and in a selective catalytic reduction method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
