<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which ensures safety for an operator while restricting cost. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a fixing unit which has a light source for emitting light to a toner image transferred onto a recording medium and melting the toner image with the heat of the light; a cooling blower which sends a current of cooling air for cooling the light source; a discharge blower which sends a current of discharging air for discharging smoke produced as the toner image is melted during fixing; and a discharge box into which both of the current of cooling air which has passed through the light source and the current of discharging air which has passed through the fixing unit are both sent.
