LOW-MOLECULAR-WEIGHT BIOTECHNOLOGICAL CHONDROITIN 6-SULPHATE FOR PREVENTION OF OSTEOARTHRITIS

Disclosed low-molecular-weight (1000-5000 daltons) chondroitin sulphate (CS) produced by chemical sulphation and subsequent depolymeri¬sation of non-sulphated chondroitin backbone obtained with biotechnology techniques. Described CS is substantially monosulphated mainly at 6-position with charge density similar to natural CS. Pharmaceutical compositions containing said CS is useful at the treatment of osteoarthritis and acute and chronic inflammatory processes.
