New plant promoter induced by nematode infestation, useful for preparing transgenic plants that are resistant to nematodes

Isolated polynucleotide (I) that is a plant promoter induced by nematode infestation is new. It comprises the regulatory sequence of the promoter of the formin gene AtFH6 of Arabidopsis thaliana, represented by a 1007 bp sequence (SEQ ID NO: 1), reproduced. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) recombinant expression cassette (EC) comprising (I) and either a heterologous sequence of interest (II) under control of (I), or at least one restriction site for insertion of (II); (2) recombinant vector that contains EC; (3) host cell transfected with EC; (4) transgenic plant, or its parts, containing EC; (5) method for producing the plants of (4); (6) seeds obtained from the plants of (4); (7) method for protecting a plant against nematodes by transfecting it with EC; and (8) method for identifying a promoter specific for the feeding sites of nematodes, by sequence comparison to identify formin analogs in other plant species.
