<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a transaction on the most appropriate account of a plurality of accounts opened by a user, and eliminate poor portability and forgettableness. <P>SOLUTION: An automatic transaction system comprises a transaction medium registering financial institution codes of financial institutions corresponding to accounts opened by a user with a plurality of financial institutions; an automatic transaction apparatus having a card reading/writing part for reading all the financial institution codes from the transaction medium and an operation/display part for displaying transaction types and the like to the user and receiving an information input of a transaction amount and the like; host computers of financial institutions managing user account information; and a financial institution information server having a table associating each transaction with benefit information indicating a degree of user benefit in each transaction about every financial institution. When receiving the financial institution codes read by the card reading/writing part and the transaction information input by the user on the automatic transaction apparatus, the financial institution information server refers to the table to select the financial institution that has the highest benefit degree, and sends information on the selected financial institution to the automatic transaction apparatus.
