<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving an image display device for suppressing a moving picture pseudo contour, flicker disturbance, and pseudo outline disturbance by making the center of gravity of light emission in a field equal or nearly equal in all gradations. <P>SOLUTION: When a multi-gradation video signal is represented by dividing a one-field period into a plurality of sub-fields differing in relative ratio of luminance, a specified number of sub-fields among the plurality of sub-fields are divided into 2n sub-fields (SF1a to SF8b), where (n) is an arbitrary integer; 2n sub-field groups (SF1a to SF8a, and SF1b to SF8b) are formed so that one of the 2n divided sub-fields belongs to a different group from one another; and the sub-field groups (A, B) are arranged symmetrically with respect to the center of the one-field period and the 2n divided individual sub-fields (SFna, SFnb) are arranged symmetrically. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
