The invention relates to an open mould meant to manufacture small- or mid-scale unique parts of epoxy or polyester resins for the motor vehicle industry, such as hoods, and to a process for applying the same. According to the invention, the mould consists of a base plate () made of oriented wood fibres, an extruded polystyrene block (), a layer () of epoxy resin, two layers () of fibre glass fabric impregnated with epoxy resin, some resistors (), an epoxy resin layer () of controlled thickness and a gelcoat layer (). According to the invention, the process for carrying out the mould consists in assembling a block () by adhering with epoxy resin some semifinished products of expanded polystyrene, adhering a block () resulting on the base plate () of oriented wood fibres with epoxy resin, milling the upper surface of the block () according to the pattern of the part to be manufactured by the mould, applying onto the milled surface a layer () of epoxy resin, applying two layers () of glass fibre fabric impregnated with epoxy resin onto the layer (), fixing some electric resistors () on the layers (), applying a layer () of epoxy resin of controlled thickness embedding the electric resistors () onto the layers (), milling the layer () to the shape and dimensions of the part to be manufactured by the mould, applying a gelcoat layer () onto the layer () of epoxy resin and polishing the gelcoat layer (). |
