A smart anchor for positioning on a seabed for use with a dredging system includes a frame; a drag anchor connected to the frame able to selectively move between an anchoring position in the seabed for securing the smart anchor in position and a pick-up position to allow for movement of the smart anchor; a movement system for moving the smart anchor relative to the seabed; and a force transfer system for removing forces on the drag anchor during movement of the smart anchor.
