1337816 Pressurized dispensing containers E H GREEN 12 Aug 1971 [10 March 1971] 37989/71 Heading F1R In a valve for a pressurized dispensing container which comprises a housing 46, Fig.4, containing a slidable plunger 66 normally spring- biased to seat against a gasket 52, the plunger 66 defines a socket 74 for a stem 98 and contains axially directed channels 84, 86 which communicate via respective grooves 88, 90 with the bore of the stem 98. More than two channels and two grooves, or only a single channel and a single groove may be provided. In the embodiment shown the stem 94 has an integral button and to facilitate filling of the container a post 92 is provided. In another embodiment, Figs.12, 13 (not shown), the stem and button are separable and the post is omitted, the stem being permanently secured to the plunger. The plunger as shown has at its top a gallery 78 though this may be omitted, Figs.10, 11 (not shown). In a modification, Figs. 14, 15, 16 (not shown), the bottom end of the stem is spaced from the floor of the socket 74 by radial ridges (190), (192) to allow passage of product to the stem bore. In a final modification, Fig. 17 (not shown), an enlarged well (220) is formed in the floor of the socket to collect residue and so prevent clogging. This function may be provided for in the other embodiments by deepening of the grooves in the socket floor. The valve may be of the tilt action type. |
